undefined Human Resources (HR) are part of the Division of Business Support
services. HR supports some 1,800
Consortium employees, about 43% of
whom are American Indian or Alaska
Native (as of 2007). HR services include hiring of new employees, and their orientation to the company. HR
offers physician and engineer
recruitment, and compensation and
benefits services. HR staff have created a website to facilitate recruitment efforts for tribal facilities in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest.

Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) uses a system for employee
performance management based on an
automated competency-based point
system. The Human Resource Information System program allows for consistency and equity to promote recruitment and retention of a qualified and skilled workforce. It features a fair and reasonable approach, as does our market-based wage and salary program. ANTHC uses the Lawson Human Resource Information System to support HR/payroll data management and provide unified reports that support management decisions.

The employee development program provides scholarship and internship opportunities for Alaska Natives interested in health careers. In 2006, ANTHC provided summer internships to 16 Alaska Natives and American Indians, awarded $6,000 each in scholarships to 12 Alaska Natives pursuing health careers, and enrolled 28 staff in its new leadership program, LEAD.
