Introduction: Alaska Safety Working Group”

Many of you requested it and now your Institutional Environmental Health (IEH) consultants (Keith Cook, Michael Box, and Valerie Herrera) at ANTHC have developed a “Safety Working Group” to facilitate sharing Alaska specific health care knowledge and resources among tribal facilities.

Representing safety in health care for our organizations in Alaska definitely provides very unique experiences. At times, these unique experiences require ingenuity and resourcefulness when tackling common health care circumstances such as shipping medical gas and medical waste, MSDS access, life safety, and day to day occupational hazards. Your ingenuity and resourcefulness is what we want to bring together.

Meeting Design: Monthly - Teleconference/WebEx

We strive to meet one hour on a Monday every month. Meetings will mainly be conducted via teleconference supplemented by web meetings when appropriate for sharing information and presentations.

There is no obligation to participate in every meeting, be as active as you choose or your work will allow. We will distribute an agenda prior to each meeting as well as posting the information on our webpage so you can decide if the topics are relevant to your work. I encourage everyone to participate in “Hot Topics” - current events are submitted by members and discussed by the group - these meetings are meant to work for you!
