Injury Prevention Training in Alaska (course descriptions)

The ANTHC Injury Prevention program coordinates injury prevention training for professionals working to reduce injuries among Alaska Natives. Three levels of training are offered (see below). Each of these courses consists of mini lectures, skill-building exercises, and small and large group discussions. There are no fees for these courses or course materials. The Indian Health Service (IHS) Injury Prevention program endorses each of these courses.

Level 1: Introduction to Injury Prevention, "The Public Health Approach"

Introduction to Injury Prevention is a 3.5-day course that introduces participants to the core components of the public health approach to injury prevention. The purpose of this course is to increase the participant's knowledge and skills about how to use the public health approach to prevent injuries in the community setting. This course is a prerequisite for the IHS Injury Prevention Fellowship program. Prerequisite: none.
