Community Building Energy Efficiency

The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium’s Division of Environmental Health and Engineering is beginning a Community Building Energy Efficiency (CBEE) program to determine how to make community facilities more energy efficient.  Using grant funding through the US Department of Energy and funding from Association of Village Council Presidents (AVCP) a team of energy specialists including a mechanical engineer will be visiting communities in the district to examine and document energy efficiency improvements that can reduce the costs of heating and operating community facilities including water treatment plants and wastewater systems.  This ultimately can result in lower costs to the households of the community through reduced sewer and water fees and less local government expenses for keeping city and tribal offices and buildings lighted and heated.
