Contract Health Services (CHS) provides funding for referred medical services not directly available at the Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC). Because CHS funds are limited, and due to policies and procedures, ANMC CHS may be unable to assist with the cost of medical facilities received from non-ANMC facilities.

ANMC CHS is the Payer of Last Resort, not private insurance.  Patients are required to exhaust all health care resources available to them from private insurance, state health programs, and other federal programs before ANMC CHS can pay for services that have been authorized.
