Leading Health Problems
Leading health problems workload data is for both inpatient and outpatient visits by facility. The data is from the Indian Health Service statistical database (NPIRS). The outpatient and inpatient leading health problem tables are published in the Alaska Area Profile Publication. Leading health problems data converts from several hundred International Classification of Disease (ICD-9) codes into approximately 100 minor and 30 major categories that are used to describe leading health problems. Outpatient workload data is divided by gender and age groups. The data in these categories are totaled by All Ages, Pediatrics (0-14 years), and Elders (65+years). Inpatient workload data is reported by hospital discharges and by number of hospital days. Inpatient data is also divided by All Ages, Pediatrics, and Elders. Calculations on leading health problems are prepared for the following facilities:
