Workload reports are exported to the Indian Health Service (IHS) national database known as "NPIRS" (National Patient Information Reporting System) to produce the annual IHS Active User Population. These exported reports consist of two parts:
- Registration data report
- Encounter data report
Encounter, or visit, data can be direct outpatient, direct inpatient, contract outpatient, contract inpatient or dental. Encounter data is the basis for the IHS publications, Regional Differences in Indian Health and Trends in Indian Health. Clicking on either of these publication links will open up a new window to an external site.
The encounter data is used to produce specialized workload reports.
