Congratulations to ANMC DAISY Award winner, Mary Ann Rowen, NP. DAISY Awards are considered from nominations received directly from patients and colleagues.

ANMC’s nurses provide culturally appropriate, family-centered care in a unique hospital environment, and they are constantly seeking ways to improve the services and care we provide. In an effort to further recognize our nurses for their outstanding work, ANMC partnered with the DAISY Award, an international program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care given by nurses every day.

Her nominator wrote: “Mary Ann is very empathetic. The spirituality shines in her work and attitude. Her compassion for the Native community is rooted in her resilience and ability to maintain a professional attitude despite her sensitive nature that can be prone to getting hurt from negative attitudes. And she does not allow this to affect the integrity of the work to continue to do right by the patients. She is an exceptional nurse who rises above the obstacles and delivers excellent services with patients’ health care goals in mind.”

Patients, their families and fellow ANMC staff can nominate nurses for DAISY Awards. Nomination forms and collection boxes have been placed throughout the ANMC hospital. Nurses who are nominated for and receive the DAISY Award exemplify what it means to be a skilled, hardworking, caring and compassionate nurse. They go above and beyond in caring for their patients.

Subsequent honorees will be selected quarterly and each DAISY Award honoree will be recognized at a public ceremony in their unit or department.
