Alysha Richardson was recently hired as ANTHC’s regional liaison for the Unalaska/Dutch Harbor communities. Richardson was born in Idaho, but has lived in Unalaska for roughly 25 years. Having worked previously with the Qawalangin Tribe of Unalaska, Richardson worked alongside the Aleutian Pribilof Islands Association to deliver COVID-19 vaccines to her community which she found very rewarding and added to her decision to become a regional ANTHC liaison. In addition, Richardson became very familiar with the Alaska Tribal health system while her daughter was receiving treatment for a chronic illness at both ANMC and Seattle Children’s Hospital.

Prior to working as a regional liaison, Richardson worked for the Qawalangin Tribe of Unalaska as well as for the local violence/sexual assault shelter, Unalaskans Against Sexual Assault and Family Violence, and continues to stay connected today.

Richardson hopes to be a resource for navigating the process for beneficiaries who need to leave their communities for specialty care as well as connecting those in need to services. ANTHC recognizes the need to better support our partners by providing a local point of contact within the regions it serves. ANTHC’s wide range of services can make it difficult for a Tribal health organization to navigate and regional liaisons are a resource in the community to enhance the knowledge of services available and improve specialty care referrals between regions and the Alaska Native Medical Center.

Currently, Richardson serves the Atka, Nikolski, St. George and Unalaska/Dutch Harbor communities and hopes to extend her service to Akutan in the future.  Richardson can be reached at (907) 581-2742 or by email, arrichardson@anthc.org.  Her office is located within the Oonalaska Wellness Center at 34 Lavelle Ct. A (upstairs), in Unalaska.
