Leadership development training opportunity open for Alaska Tribal Health System employees

June 6, 2022

The ANTHC Pathways to Leadership program is open to Alaska Native and American Indian employees that work for Alaska Tribal Health System organizations. Registration is open through June 26.

Pathways participants are at all levels of their career, with or without formal education, seeking to improve their leadership, management, and supervisory knowledge and skills. Pathways is a nine-month program, starting with the kickoff in September and ending with the graduation in May. Participants attend monthly core trainings, meet with a mentor, complete a job shadow, attend an executive meeting, complete community service hours, attend a networking event, attend ANTHC Book Club discussions, and write a group project proposal for review by the Executive team. At the end of the program, after successfully passing an exam, participants receive a Certified Supervisor Certification, and graduates may choose to receive continuing education (CE) credits or undergraduate credits from Alaska Pacific University.

The core trainings introduce participants to essential tools and principles to establish a working knowledge of management practices. Experienced subject matter experts/leaders lead discussions on important topics, issues, and provide their advice and recommendations. While reading Alaska Native Reader participants read and discuss Alaska Native issues, history and culture. Studies show public speaking is a critical leadership skill and is a great way to improve self-confidence, participants deliver speeches and practice impromptu speaking throughout the program year. To provide a foundation for management knowledge, skills, and abilities participants read and discuss the Certified Supervisor textbook to prepare for their online exam to receive a Certified Supervisor Certification.

Each year the program core trainings are customized to ensure maximum interest and growth, the core trainings topics are determined from the responses received during the application and interview process.

Program year: September 2022  to May 2023
