SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium now connected to ANMC shared health record system

March 3, 2017

SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) is now live with a shared electronic health record (EHR) system for the organization’s hospital and clinics after the partnership with ANTHC’s Health Information Technology department began last year. SEARHC joins ANMC and other Tribal health partners on the Cerner EHR system, which improves patient care through increased communication between our organizations and providers.

For the patients referred to care at ANMC or seen by ANMC specialists at field clinics, the shared electronic health record enhances the quality of care our people receive and improves care team communication and efficiency. With the deployment of the shared EHR at SEARHC, about two-thirds of all outpatient encounters throughout the Alaska Tribal Health System are now available in the shared EHR domain.

Providers at regional or community locations will now have complete documentation from an ANMC inpatient or clinic visit immediately available when a patient returns home. ANMC providers seeing SEARHC patients in specialty clinics or at the hospital will now have complete patient records available within our EHR, including medication lists, allergies, problem lists, lab results, radiology and documentation. The EHR connection will also add benefit to our specialty providers during field clinics since access to the same records will be available to view and document. Additional improvements include integration with telehealth consultations, the communications available through the EHR Message Center, and enhanced workflows that utilize these communication capabilities.
