In July, ANTHC’s Tobacco Prevention Program was awarded a State Partnership Initiative grant from the Office of Minority Health to reduce tobacco use among Alaska Native adults in the North Slope Borough. ANTHC is among the awardees for energy projects in Alakanuk, Kotlik and Noorvik. Dr. Anne Lanier, a longtime public health pioneer, dedicated clinician and mentor, was recently inducted into the Alaska Women’s Hall of Fame. ANMC shares new Family Birthing Services Unit

ANMC’s Family Birthing Services hosted a blessing and baby shower to celebrate the newly expanded and renovated OB Triage, Labor and Delivery and Postpartum areas. The event marked the end of a multi-year remodeling project in Family Birthing Services that included adding new postpartum rooms, an expanded and improved OB Triage area, three additional Labor and Delivery Rooms, one additional C-section operating room and an upgraded and expanded nurses’ station. Recovering frozen water lines in rural Alaska is an unfortunate necessity and a substantial challenge for many communities.
