ANMC DAISY Award winner, Jacky Smith, RN

September 12, 2022

Congratulations to ANMC DAISY Award winner, Jacky Smith. DAISY Awards are considered from nominations received directly from patients and colleagues. Smith was nominated by a patient.

ANMC’s nurses provide culturally appropriate, family-centered care in a unique hospital environment, and they are constantly seeking ways to improve services and care we provide. In an effort to further recognize the outstanding work of our nurses, ANMC partnered with the DAISY Award, an international program that celebrates the extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care provided by nurses every day.

Her nominator wrote: “I brought my son to the ER for possible pink eye infection. Jacky was our nurse from the moment we met to the end of the visit – that included an unexpected IV & CT scan. She was patient, so kind, friendly and did amazing at explaining things to my son so he could understand. She was being very relatable and made us laugh despite our nerves. This was truly the best ER experience we ever had even while feeling scared. My son and I were treated like more than a number on a chart, more than patients, but as a mother and son. This made a world of difference in what can be a very stressful process. I wish I had more words to elaborate my gratitude. Thank so much for your sincere bedside manner, professionalism and kindness!”

Patients, their families and fellow ANMC staff can nominate nurses for DAISY Awards. Nomination forms and collection boxes have been placed throughout the ANMC hospital. Nurses who are nominated for and receive the DAISY Award go above and beyond in caring for their patients.

Each DAISY Award honoree is recognized quarterly at a public ceremony in their unit or department. For more information about the DAISY Award program, please visit For questions about nominating an ANMC nurse, please email Cheryl George at or Renee Stephens at
